WINE CONFIGURATION:
No Wine library overrides were required. I had to run Aquanox from within a Virtual Desktop. Tick the box next to “automatically capture mouse” in the winecfg Graphics tab.
GAME SETUP:
I had issues launching the game full-screen with error “num display modes overflow”. I launched the game in virtual desktop and configured graphics settings from there. There is no pre-game config so the game launched in 640×480 fullscreen the first time. Configuring the game is not a problem – though on ATI cards changing settings cause the game to crash. After a restart everything appeared ok.
I went straight into a single player Dogfight and the game ran smooth. Storyline movies and gameplay appears fine…
The game used to run full-screen on older Wine versions – but now shows errors with latest Wine version. Virtual Desktop mode plays fine still.
FINAL SETTINGS:
1920×1080 in virtual desktop - all settings on high – antistropic texture filtering + triple buffering
PROBLEMS NOTED:
- game must be played in a virtual desktop
