I’m finally back from my long overdue holiday from work and all thing’s I.T. – fully recharged and ready for 2013. Have quite a few games to add and older tests to update… Hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year!
We’ve had to remove our current member forums as too many spammers are attacking it and I don’t have the time to moderate every post… will see what we can do to replace them with a better WordPress integrated forum in future.
I just received notification I’m in on the expanded external beta for the Steam for Linux client :D
Just downloaded the .deb installer which launches the Ubuntu Software Centre and then asks to launch Steam to complete the installation.
A Steam launcher icon is added to the desktop – I ended up with 2 as I have my WINE steam icon there – so I renamed one to Steam Linux
Once launched the 111MB update download starts
Once completed the familiar add account / existing account screen pops up
Once logged in the subscriber agreement shows as usual and Steam also detected my outdated Nvidia proprietary graphics driver.
So I dutifully updated my drivers, installing the latest experimental 310 drivers for NVIDIA
Steam for Linux Beta testing has arrived! Fill in the survey and you just might be selected as an early beta tester for this long awaited Linux version of the Steam client!

Hi all – it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to add more games to the site = been flat out with work and family holidays!
I have quite a few user submitted games to add, about 12 or so – and will be adding them ASAP.
I’ve also changed the specs of my Linux gaming PC as my main work machine is now on RAID 0 and for some reason Linux doesn’t want to install or recognise the array.
Will update the testing system specs as well.
Do keep submitting working Steam games as I will eventually get to adding them!

I have recently started using the Cinnamon desktop on top of Mint Linux 12 and can say that I’m impressed and games seem to be running just as well, if not better on Cinnamon.
As of 1.3.36 it appears moving Steam windows around on the desktop works properly. Steam Windows on X desktop no longer tend to jump around… as much ;)

Updated the Steam Morrowind game test – thought I’d post when I do this until I get some time to update the site design to make updated game tests properly organised …. anyone want to donate so I can change jobs? ;)
Installed 1.3.28 tonight – haven’t had much time to test games lately myself… thanks to all who have posted in games and helping others on the site. I will try to get new submissions up ASAP!
