WINE SETTINGS:
Before launching Magicka for the first time I installed winetricks dotnet35. All the installs through dotnet 3.0 went ok – though dotnet 3.5 failed to finish installing.
GAME SETTINGS:
Changing the game graphics resolution in game caused a crash, though was able to relaunch with new settings. I had to turn shadows down to low to get better framerates.
RUNNING THE GAME:
The game appears to run fine – though some textures / element effects are messed up (this appears to have been fixed in Wine 1.3.31.) - either way, this does not really affect gameplay much.
PROBLEMS NOTED:
- crashing when changing graphics settings
- some textures / effects not displaying correctly
NOT YET TESTED:
- online play
WINETRICKS .verb INSTALLER NOTES: [general installer help here]
The magicka.verb installer will install Steam + Magicka in it’s own wineprefix + try to install install dotnet35… I had to run the verb installer twice and dotnet35 failed both times – but on the second time Steam installed with Magicka… if any other problems with SGOL .verb installer please do post a comment!

Hey, I installed the verb using wintricks and it all went well (even dotnet 3.5). How do I start magicka from here? This is all thats holding me back from switching from windows =]
Just launch Steam and then launch the game from Steam same as windows…
thats what i tried but it just says ‘preparing to launch’ & never does. Any suggestions? =[
So I tried starting over and I deleted my prefixes folder & reran the verb. After installing 3.0 its saying “The .NET Runtime Optimization Service is started and paused.” and isn’t progressing past that. Any ideas?
I had to restart and run the .verb twice… otherwise clear the prefix and install Steam from the downloaded installer – then run winetricks dotnet35 – then install Magicka.
