NOTES:
I had to run KOTOR in Windowed mode in Wine to get it to work. I used winecfg to emulate a virtual-desktop. You can run the game without virtual desktop mode – though ATI cards seem to have problems. When I try this the game plays in a window anyway…
IN-GAME SETTINGS:
I set the game video resolution to 1024×768 – anything higher caused the screen to go blank for me, though the cursor was visible. This happened even with higher Wine desktop size settings. (ATI Card)
– I also had to turn off “Frame Buffer Effects” and “Soft Shadows” or else the screen flickered so badly it was unplayable.
On my new NVIDIA card I could enable the frame buffer effects + Anti-Aliasing, though soft shadows was not available…
RUNNING THE GAME:
Star Wars: KOTR launches from the Steam client in windowed mode just fine and all videos play though to menus. I started a quick character and was playing in no time. Everything appears to work 100% with the above in-game settings.
