Seeing as I managed to get Titan Quest running within a Wine virtual desktop I went back and re-evaluated TQ Immortal Throne as well to see if I could get it running… here are the results:
Virtual desktop – NOTE: your virtual desktop should be larger than the game window / resolution or you may experience graphics problems!
I had to disable Tripple Buffering to stop text anomalies in the menus / character creation. As with Titan Quest I had to manually edit the config file (located /userhome/My Games/Titan Quest – Immortal Throne/Settings/options.txt) to stop artifacting and other graphics issues. I set:
shadows = false
advancedEffects = false
(set rockOn = true if you want to hear one of the developers band’s tunes when viewing the credits :)
RUNNING THE GAME:
Immortal Throne launches within the virtual desktop window and all videos played fine. With the above settings I could play the game just fine. Every one and awhile there are some graphics glitches – though no overall no show stoppers yet.
It took some tweaking of the settings to get the game to play – some things I noticed were:
1) missing / garbled text on menus
2) character models distorted (virtual desktop needs to be larger than game window/resolution)
3) no keyboard input (alt+tab out then in to fix)
4) unable to click and pick up items without first holding the “x” or “z” key.
